Yes, that’s right! As part of Marvel’s marketing campaign for the upcoming Captain America movie, we’re getting a slew of new emojis to use. After reading an interesting article on Screen Rant, I was introduced to these plucky new Marvel emojis. And what’s not to love here; our favorite Marvel superheroes finally in emoji form so that we can properly tweet our MCU binge watches.
As the article makes mention of, when the comic book source material of Marvel’s Civil War launched 10 years ago in 2006, it asked the internet to choose a side. Did you announce that “I’m with Captain America” or “I’m with Iron Man”? Signature banners, pictures, memes, and more were flooding discussion boards.
And that seems to be the thought process behind these emojis. With modern society and social media as it is, what better way to announce what side you’re on? Tweet your side, and make your own emoji team! The charm of these emojis successfully draws internet users to once again take part in choosing a side.
Not only that, the article also informs about Marvel’s sweepstakes. If you the hashtags #TeamCapSweepstakes or #TeamIronManSweepstakes, you’ll be viable to be in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War movie. Albeit, it is a non-speaking walk-one role. But as a fan, what more can you ask for?? Full details and rules for the sweepstakes can be found at Marvel’s official page.
The original Civil War storyline was a comic book crossover event among many of Marvel Comic’s properties. It saw Captain America pitted against Iron Man, which split all of Marvel’s iconic heroes in half. Previous friends and teammates were seen against each other on the battlefield. The reason behind it all was the Superhero Registration Act, which would publicly reveal heroes’ secret identities and make them work under government control.
The upcoming Captain America: Civil War will follow a similar suite, but at a smaller scale and with a partially changed story. The movie will also mark the cinematic introduction of Black Panther (played by Chadwick Boseman) and the newest iteration of Spider-Man (played now by Tom Holland).
